CERAMIC METAMORPHOSES'2025

In September - October 2025, free pottery classes were held for teenagers and seniors in Palanga.

Twenty participants spent two months learning to sculpt, decorate, and glaze, and are now sharing their creations with you. Not all works survived, and not all are perfect, but we want to show you the entire pottery process.

It's not easy: to create the exact piece you dreamed of, there are many rules and subtleties to follow. However, it is also an incredibly enjoyable process that not only brought joy to everyone but also taught them a lot.

Clay Stories in Palanga: Exhibition of Participants of "Ceramic Metamorphoses" Project Opens

This autumn, the "Ceramic Metamorphoses" pottery education cycle held in Palanga is moving to an exhibition space in the Palanga City Municipality Public Library. The exhibition opening will take place on December 4th at 4:00 PM. Here, participants of the project, who either touched clay for the first time or returned to creation after a long break, will present their works.

The "Ceramic Metamorphoses" workshops were attended by Palanga residents of various ages – teenagers and seniors – seeking new forms of creativity and ways to care for their emotional well-being. The aim of the educational sessions was to provide opportunities to try ceramics for free, strengthen emotional health, and foster community between different generations. During the lessons, participants learned to recognize the properties of clay, sculpting and decorating techniques, glazing, and most importantly, discovered how much peace and joy the creative process can bring.

Teenagers who participated in the workshops said that ceramics help them relax after school, allowing them to "think with their hands" and create unique, imperfection-embracing objects – cups, bowls, small sculptures. Seniors shared that working with clay awakens youthful curiosity, brings back the feeling of creation, and instills confidence: even when trying for the first time, one can create a beautiful, personal item.

Now, all these experiences take shape in an exhibition. It will feature works of various forms and textures – from playful teenage experiments to subtle, experience-filled creations by seniors. Each exhibit testifies not only to technique but also to a personal story: curiosity, the courage to try, and the peace found in working with clay.

During the exhibition opening, visitors will have the opportunity to meet the creators and hear short stories about how specific works were born. During the opening and throughout the month, we invite visitors to actively vote for the most beautiful works. The authors of the works that receive the most votes will be awarded, and surprises await those who vote!

We invite Palanga residents and city guests to visit the library, admire the creations of "Ceramic Metamorphoses" participants, and see firsthand how creativity becomes a bridge between different generations.

The exhibition will be held at the Palanga City Municipality Public Library from November 30th to December 31st, with the exhibition opening on December 4th at 4:00 PM.

The cycle of pottery classes for teenagers and seniors was organized by Public Institution "Užtaisas", and the project was partially funded by Palanga City Municipality.
