ABOUT ME

I am Laura Vyšniauskaitė – ceramist and creator. My studio is a place where one can create without pressure. Authentically. At one's own pace.

My relationship with creativity is innate and deeply personal. From childhood, I felt a strong attraction to the arts – singing, drawing, poetry, and my first touches with clay. This need for self-expression accompanied me for a long time; already in school, I became a laureate of several poetry and drawing competitions. Even later, while working in marketing or studying psychology and art therapy, I always looked for ways for an idea to touch a person and leave a lasting impression.

The real turning point happened with the birth of my children. I decided to change careers and gradually return to what had always been closest to my heart. I started organizing community poetry events "Women are poems," studying painting, and eventually, my poems were published in a national anthology of women's poetry. However, soon clay took center stage. After learning from private masters, I delved into professional studies of fine crafts. Those few years were crucial – alongside theory, all attention was devoted to intensive practice. I tried everything: from wheel throwing to a multitude of firing techniques: electric, Raku, smoke firing, black pottery, Saggar, and pit firing.

One of my most vivid memories is a multi-day residency with a renowned black pottery master. Working with teachers and fellow students day and night, taking turns tending the fire, left an indelible impression on me. It was here that I discovered my favorite technique – Saggar firing with Terra Sigillata and experiments with oxides. I feel boundless joy watching unexpected forms and colors emerge from these unpredictable attempts.

Today, I have my studio in Palanga – KERAMISTA. I set it up myself: from preparing the floors to hanging the last shelf. This studio is a true reflection of my identity: bohemian, simple, cozy, and constantly evolving. It is a space for my personal artistic explorations, but also a place for community gatherings. I greatly value the time spent with my students, and my most meaningful activities include projects for seniors and teenagers in collaboration with the local municipality. Seeing them create and exhibit their works in galleries is the greatest gift.
